Already in 1928 he became the first Czech member of the American Ceramic Society. From 1937 he lectured on the technology of silicates as a professor, and in 1938 he took over the management of the Prastav mould from his father. At the same time he continued to work as a professor at the Czech Technical University and the University of Chemical Technology. In 1947 he was elected dean of the CTU. In addition, he held the position of head of the Institute for Glass, Ceramics and Testing of Construction Materials. As an active member of Sokol, he was arrested in 1941 and imprisoned in Terezín and Auschwitz. In the 1950s he was stripped of all his functions and sent into retirement. He is the author of more than 400 scientific papers and textbooks.
