In 1905, he became a member of the Christian Social Party and co-founded the Catholic Farmers Association, where he promoted cooperative projects. After 1918 he co-founded the Czechoslovak People's Party in his native province. From 1920 to 1935 he was its deputy in the National Assembly. From 1935 he was active in regional politics and became chairman of the Union of Czechoslovak Economic Cooperatives. In 1945-1948 he was a deputy of the party in the District National Committee in Chrudim. After February 1948, he was persecuted and deprived not only of his political positions, but also of those in the hunting association or the supervisory board of the credit union.
