He studied at the War College in Vienna and was Chief of Staff during the First World War. In 1918 he joined the Czechoslovak Army and served as Chief of the Provincial Military Command for Slovakia, then served in České Budějovice and in 1926 worked as Chief of the Main Staff in Prague. In 1928 he was appointed a brigadier general, in 1933 a division general and a year later he was retired. During the Protectorate period he collaborated, and became a recipient of the Nazi Cross of Merit. After the war he was sentenced to death and executed.
